I didn’t begin as a successful student.
In fact, my class marks were always low. I failed all of my school exams! This was my wake-up call to question what is wrong with education and why so many fail after 12 years of schooling.
I went back into education at 20 and was a great success, finishing all 14 exams with nearly 100 per cent passes.
Since then I have been working in education and society to ensure that no child would fail their education as I once did. My work is grounded in real experience with real human beings, decades of independent research and a lifelong commitment to understanding how we learn.
The dean of an American university regards “Intelligence: The Great Lie” as one of the most important books published this century, while professors, educationalists and parents around the world regard my books as among the best written on School, Society and Learning.
